A sweltering and cool wedding in Monte Rio, California

Mike (Guido) and Laurie were married last July on what was the hottest day of the summer. They had their ceremony at the Rio Villa Beach Resort followed by a great reception at the Highland Dell Lodge.

Steve Baxman, the fire chief of the Monte Rio volunteer fire department, stopped traffic for the wedding party to cross the bridge over the Russian River.

It was great to see all these cool city folks partying in our tiny town.

Zach and Lucy's New Year's Eve Wedding at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco

Zach and Lucy were married at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco on New Year's Eve, 2012. We were able to drive around the city for several nice portraits prior to the ceremony. My favorite location was at Crissy Field on a pier with a view of the city in the background. The light was fading fast, but we were able to get some great shots.

Ken and Kara Wedding at Vine Hill House

Ken and Kara's wedding took place on July 27th, 2012 at Vine Hill House in Sebastopol, California.

The amazing backdrop of Mt. St. Helena as well as the wine barrel and wine ritual completed the ceremony.  The wedding had a local, rustic California wine country theme and much of the décor was handcrafted by the bride, her family and her bridal party. Rustic old wooden barn signs welcomed guests as they arrived on site.  The wood was gathered by the bride’s engineer brother who does a lot of work on houses and the signs were beautifully painted with the help of one of the bridesmaid’s mothers.

The wedding party was stunning and was complete with a natural tux-wearing pup!  The bride and her bridesmaids carried green and purple bouquets of cala lilies and orchids pieced together by the florist, Heather Hendrickson.  The bride wore green and purple Kate Spade heels which added some pop to the pictures.  She wore a satin and lace A-line dress to which she added fabric buttons and a jeweled belt.

Reverend Peadar Dalton, born and raised in Ireland, officiated Ken and Kara's wedding. His humor and insightful words made Ken and Kara's ceremony sacred and inspiring for everyone.

Portraits of Holly and Jordan at Lake Leonard

I met with Holly and Jordan on December 2nd a Lake Leonard north of Ukiah. It is an amazing place for their wedding in June, 2012. Here's a link: http://www.leonardlakereservellc.com/

I loved the dark clothes and great hats they wore for this practice portrait session. The images  in black and white look like they could have been taken in the 1940s.

Mark and Tasha flew down with family and friends from Calgary, Alberta for their wedding in Sonoma County. The ceremony took place at Arista Winery in Healdsburg, the reception at Mayacama Golf Club in Santa Rosa. Many thanks to Stephanie Beer of Covenant Coordinating for making this beautiful day come together. http://www.winecountryweddingsite.com/

Brett and Alison's Wedding at Dawn Ranch, Guerneville, California

Brett and Alison were married this Fall at Dawn Ranch in Guerneville, California. A wonderful couple (and a great doggie!) Dawn Ranch Lodge is one of those beautiful hidden places you might pass on your way to the coast. I love how they kept the original style of the cabins when they remodeled the property. And they kept their apple trees, a welcome relief from grapevines!

Late evening wedding at Barn Diva, Healdsburg, California

Truly a very challenging wedding in late October, Bekah and Ryan's ceremony started just as the sun was setting. Using my low-light 50mm lens and very minimal flash, I captured the ceremony and the reception making use of the warm available light. I loved experimenting with the sparklers, using a slow shutter speed and just a little flash.  Wonderful people, beautiful setting created by the folks at Barn Diva.

The owners, Jil and Geoffrey and manager, Lukka, are true artists:
